Paul Muzzall, 31, is a family and youth worker for St Mary’s Church in Broadwater. The money he raised was split between The Rock School in Uganda and Cherish Uganda – a facility supporting children with HIV.

Paul, of Greet Road, Lancing, presented the organisations with the money in person.

He said: “The schools rely on regular donations to stay open, and to supply for the basic needs of the 1,000 students they support, so to be given a large lump sum without stipulations on what they spent it on allowed them to buy these ‘luxuries’ for the kids.

“The schools work so hard to cater for the basic needs of the kids it was so good that they were able to equip themselves with things that would help the kids to rest and play well too.

“I wish I could aptly describe the incredible joy that the kids expressed.”
