Fundraising leads to tree walk

Some of Aldwick's finest trees will be introduced to residents this Sunday afternoon.

The specimens on Aldwick Green will be the subject of a tree walk being hosted by the Aldwick Tree Group from 3pm and led by Lawrence Holloway.

The group has more than 1,000 in the bank to plant new trees. These cost some 50 each.

The fundraising was boosted by more than 180 '“ enough for at least three trees '“ raised from the group's first plant and produce sale in Fernhurst Gardens.

It took place in the garden of Alex and Marion Alexander, which was filled with people and plants for the occasion.

Members took along their surplus seedlings as petunias jostled with parsley and heleniums were next to hellebores.

Gordon and Lorraine Crown served coffee and cakes from their kitchen.

Neighbours Jeanette and Jill Blunden-Codd baked cakes and scones.
