Funds help world champ

A PARALYMPIC hopeful was recently presented with funds raised from a charity volleyball tournament held in Worthing earlier in the year.

Wheelchair tennis world team cup winner Lauren Jones, 18, of Offington Drive, Offington, Worthing, is targeting a place at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

She said: “It really helps me both mentally and financially with the assistance and support provided by people of Worthing. I couldn’t do it without them.”

Stefan Sykes, manager of the Worthing Sand Courts, said: “The tournament is a great day of fun in the sand and we’re all delighted and proud we can support Lauren in her fantastic achievements.”

Funds raised for Lauren will go towards her training costs.
