MORE than £2,000 was raised for a good cause with a charity version of a popular TV dating show.

A special version of the popular ITV programme Take Me Out was held in a “secret Durrington location”, with more than 100 people attending on the night.

Just like in the TV show, it was the job of the men to impress the 17 girls who each had their own light.

Those girls then had to decide whether to keep their light on if they were interested in the men, or turn them off if they were not.

The night, which took place on November 5, was held to raise funds for St Barnabas House.

Kristina Pollard, one of the organisers, said: “The night was a great success after over six months of planning.

“Thank you to everyone that attended and special thanks to J&J Entertainments who were responsible for all the sound, lighting and visuals throughout the night. We couldn’t have done it without them.

“Contestants all got sponsored for taking part, so money is still coming in. We are hoping to have raised just over £2,100 when it all comes in, which we are really proud about.”

A second charity Take Me Out evening is planned for 2012.
