Firefighters from the area paid their respects to Arthur Prole, whose funeral was held at the Methodist church in Ardsheal Road, Worthing.

Arthur served in West Sussex as a national firefighter between April 29, 1946, and March 31, 1948, then at East Preston and later Worthing during the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

An honour parade was held on the day with crew members turning out to remember Arthur.
