Further job losses at Modelzone HQ as no buyer found for troubled chain

ANOTHER 11 redundancies have been made at Modelzone’s headquarters in Lancing as administrators failed to find a buyer for the troubled chain.

A total of 31 jobs have now been axed at the firm’s base, in Commercial Way, Lancing, and a consultation with staff in its 47 stores nationwide has begun.

The firm went into administration last month.

Richard Hawes, Joint Administrator, said: “Despite our continued efforts, we have been unable to identify a buyer for the retail business.

“We would like to thank the Company’s employees for their support and professionalism during this time.”

Modelzone had been generating losses over the last couple of years, burdened by leases for new stores that proved to be loss making, and growth in its online competition.

It employs a total of 355 employees currently.
