Fury as campaigners' home used to promote a major housing plan SORT OUT COPY

Spot the difference '“ the small photograph on the far right shows Mouse Hall in Westergate as it appears in a masterplan promoting a scheme of 1,500 homes.

The main photograph shows the home of Melanie Burgoyne and Stuart Morris as it appears to thousands of motorists along the A29 each day.

The anti-housing banner refers to a land-use option under consideration by district councillors to set aside areas in the Westergate, Barnham and Eastergate area for 2,500 dwellings.

The inclusion of their property in the document without their knowledge has angered the couple.

Their annoyance is increased by the fact their cottage, a Grade II listed building, is twice featured in the masterplan and is also wrongly called Nyton Farm.

Ms Burgoyne said she believed the photograph in the masterplan was taken about two years ago.

Mr Morris said: "By using the photographs of our property there is an implication that we endorse the development.

"We are extremely concerned about the damage that this could cause to our reputations within our local community, as we are vehemently against development in Westergate."

The couple, who have lived in Mouse Hall for 11 years, have asked the promoters of the development to remove the photographs of their property from the masterplan. They also want everyone who has received a copy of the current edition to be informed they do not support the proposals.

The masterplan has been issued by a team which includes Hallam Land Management and Henry Adams and Partners for land west of Westergate.

Ruth McKeown, Hallam Land's regional manager for the south east, said the masterplan formed part of the company's response to Arun District Council's consultation in March and early April about its future land use policies.
