COUNCILLORS will debate the results of the Worthing 20mph consultation this evening in a key meeting on the future of the proposals.
Worthing ClC will meet at St Paul’s Centre, in Chapel Road, from 7pm, following the borough-wide consultation which saw 69 per cent of residents vote ‘no’ to the proposals.
On this basis, the county councillors are recommended not to progress with a proposed 20mph scheme for the town.
A total of 69.4 per cent – 13,115 residents – voted no, compared with 5,796 yes votes.
The voting was also extended to under-18s, in which a positive outcome was reached in four wards but overall, 53.8 per cent voted no.
Doors open at 6.30pm, with supporters from both pro and anti groups expected.
