Twelve teams competed in the fifth annual Great Sussex Bath Race at a private lake near Chichester on Sunday.

Event director Neil Laughton said: “It was a great team-building day and fun sporting competition for all the companies and organisations who entered.

“We have raised around £10,000 for our chosen charities, Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice and LifeCentre, with more pledges and donations to be counted.”

Team Sharkitects from ECE Architecture in West Worthing won the grand final and Team E Sea E from the same company won the demolition derby after their solidly-built raft avoided destruction in the ‘anything goes’ race.

The wooden spoon went to a Worthing-based team from Sussex Police, which was recognised for all-round team spirit, creative raft accessorising and enthusiasm throughout the tournament, as well as an outstanding fundraising effort.

Organiser Gemma King, of Vivid Marketing, added: “I’d like to thank everyone who gave their all in this energetic raft-racing tournament in the searing heat this Father’s Day to raise funds for two excellent causes.”

Other companies taking part were NatWest Business Banking, Focus Group, Warrens Law, The Gourmet Chef, Search Consultancy, BNI Hove Albion Business Networking Group and Southern Fire Alarms.
