Organiser Gambit Games UK is a non-profit club which was formed more than 25 years ago by Barry Holden, Gareth Wynn and David Shotter.

The club’s first gaming convention was held at Hove Town Hall last year to mark its silver anniversary.

Games retailer Gary Cambell-Smith, of KD Games in Shoreham, said: “What began in a small back room has grown into a busy gaming club with more than 100 members.

“This year, we are bringing the gaming convention to Shoreham, just this time it will be a bit bigger.”

The convention takes place at the Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, from 10am to 10pm. There will be a mix of national games suppliers, such as Mantic Games and Warlord, makers of the popular Bolt Action, and smaller independent retailers from the area.

Gary explained: “This will mean that there will be a wide selection of board games, miniature war games and card games available to buy.

“This will be the first major event to be held in the Shoreham Centre since its extensive revamp. The venue offers a perfect setting for the convention as it is ideally situated for both bus and train as well as having ample car parking spaces, so however you travel it is easy to get to.

“The new Pond Café will be open all day, which is the ideal location for a cup of tea or coffee or even get some lunch with a range of freshly-made meals.”

There will be more tournaments for war game players this year, too, with the return of War Machine, Bolt Action and X-Wing plus, for the first time, Flames of War.

For those who prefer card games, there will be Magic the Gathering, Cardfight Vanguard, Pokémon and Lords of War tournaments.

Gary said: “Most of these will be in the evening, allowing players the full day to make the most of the rest of the convention.

“We will also be adding smaller events such as Dice Masters, Star Realms and Warhammer Conquest, if there is enough interest.”

Entrance to the convention is £5 adults, £2 under 16s. All tournaments will require an additional ticket. Visit www.gambitgames.co.uk for more information.

There are two charity partners this year, Dog Trust Shoreham and Friends of Shoreham Fort, with the UK Garrison returning to help with the collection.
