Generous Lions donate thousands to good causes

The charity gave £1,000 to Prostate Cancer Support Organisation to help with funding, following a successful screening day at Methold House, in North Street, Worthing.

Buddy’s Cafe, in South Farm Road, Worthing, received £500 to help with expenses.

An 18-year-old woman who has been in care all her life received £270 for a laptop and memory stick. A woman who contracted polio as a child and whose conditioning is worsening as she gets older was awarded £350 for a special mobility scooter.

The Club donated £270 to fund a first aid course for 11-17 year-olds. The charity has teamed up with Amelia Regnante, principal of the Regnante School of Performing Arts, and ten youngsters will attend the course. Women’s Aid received £410 to have a new carpet fitted at one of its refuges.

A young man with cerebral palsy, selected to play Boccia for Great Britain later this year, needed funding for the trip to the Czech Republic to take part. The Lions gave him £500.

Finally, £200 was given to Keith Richardson of Goring Beach Huts who has recently provided and stocked a beach hut for the use by Chestnut Tree House.
