A GOLFER has raised more than £1,000 for his club’s fund-raising appeal after running a marathon for the first time.
David Tulley completed the Brighton Marathon in 4 hours, 30 minutes, with no training, other than his regular competitions on behalf of Worthing Golf Club.
He has now presented a cheque to club captain Alan Harris and ladies captain Caroline Nicholls, who launched a joint fund-raising appeal for Worthing’s Young Carers.
The money will go towards treats and trips out for local youngsters who give up their time to care for relatives – parents or sisters and brothers – who are sick or disabled.
“We are very grateful, both to David for giving such a good start to our captains’ charity appeal for the year, and also to the many golf club members who sponsored him,” said Alan.
David also raised a further £300 in support of leukaemia patients, in tribute to a family member who had suffered the disease.
