An 11-year-old boy had a birthday to forget when his brand new BMX was stolen four hours after he received it as a present.

Joshua Friend, of Pembroke Avenue, Goring, had been given the brand-new bike on Thursday, after which he and his family cycled to the Aquarena for a swim.

Joshua, who had been with his dad, mum, sister and uncle, locked up the bike outside the pool in Brighton Road when they were told it was closed for an hour.

But when they returned, the bike had been taken after thieves used bolt cutters to break its lock.
