“Marie Curie support people living with any terminal illness, and their families. They offer expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left.

“This year, rather than individual sponsorship, we asked all students to make a suggested donation of £3.”

Around 500 students and staff joined the walk and before they set off, they all took part in a whole school mass, led by Bishop Richard Moth.

Worthing town crier Bob Smytherman went along to wish them luck and walked with them.

Refreshments were provided, thanks to Tesco Extra in Durrington donating bottled water for all participants and Molloy’s kiosk selling Mr Whippy ice creams at a reduced price.
