A LANCING runner is stepping up her training in preparation for the Great South Run next month.
Kelly Mansell will join forces with Olympic gold medallist Iwan Thomas to complete the fundraising challenge.
The 32-year-old, who cares full time for her husband, is one of 10 people picked for the challenge, which will see Thomas going head to head with former Spice Girl Mel C to see who can raise the most cash for charity.
Mrs Mansell has already taken part in a training day at Mountbatten Leisure Centre.
She applied to take on the Great South Run and raise money for the Brainstrust Brain Tumour Charity as her husband is living with a cancerous brain tumour.
Mrs Mansell said: “As a non-experienced runner, I will have to push myself like the thousands of people nationwide that push themselves daily living with brain tumours.
“Being part of Team Iwan will help spur me on to raise even more money for a charity that is so close to my heart.”
To make a donation text KELL94 £2 to 70070.
The Great South Run will take place in Portsmouth on October 27.
