Groups show off their environmental efforts in Arundel

The meeting – the sixth of its kind to unite the area’s environmental action teams – was held at the Arundel Wetlands Centre, last week.

The gathering celebrated the value of community involvement within the district’s parks and also provided a useful forum for sharing experiences and ideas between the groups.

The 17 organisations brought along examples of their work for others to see.

Guest speakers included Rowena Tyler, who provided details on working with other organisations, Nell Paton, who described the progress made by the Arundel Community Orchard group in working with the town’s schools, and Gez Watson, who shared her experience of engaging residents to improve the environment.

The event was organised by Dee Christensen, of Arun parks department, and Maria Wildman, of the Arun Biodiversity Forum, and was chaired by councillor Terence Chapman, who thanked all of the groups for their considerable contribution to improving the environment, stressing there was no ‘one size fits all’ solution to current challenges.
