Harvest auction will help our local lifeboats

The event, now in its 60th year is organised by serving and retired Coastguard Rescue officers.

“This is comprised of produce collected through Pett village and surrounding areas by various teams of volunteers and Coastguards during the day prior to the start time.

“It started in the latter half of 1951 when the nation was saddened by the tragic loss with all hands of a Hull trawler.

“In response to a National Appeal by the Mayor of Hull a small bring and buy sale was organised by Reg Cooke, Secretary of the Beach Club, and also Auxiliary In Charge of the Pett Coastguards. This was held at the New Beach Club, which was then the Smugglers Public House, Pett Level.

“We have endeavoured to keep this event going every year, raising thousands of pounds for the two local lifeboats.”

The auction starts at 7pm and residents of Pett and Pett Level are asked to leave donations on their doorsteps to be collected during the day on Saturday.
