Sussex Police said he did not turn up for work and had not been seen or heard from since.

“James is described as white, 5’ 9”, with brown-cropped hair, blue eyes and a beard,” said a police spokesman. “He was wearing a grey T-shirt, black waterproof top with a hood, blue jeans and burgundy desert style boots.

PC Ben Whitehead said: “James has been suffering from depression and we are concerned for his safety as he has not gone missing before and this behaviour is out of character for him.”
