Linda Barrett, team leader for St Barnabas House’s Hospice at Home service, health care assistants Sue Reader and Georgie Bushby, and Sheena Evans, a registered nurse, will take on the midnight walk on Saturday, June 21.

Linda said: “We wanted to do our bit to help as well, and have the chance to personally thank the walkers and all the volunteers on the night.”

Since its launch, the Hospice at Home service has provided end of life care for more than 600 patients.

“At first, we were providing care between 8.30am and 9pm, 365 days a year,” said Linda. “But when a patient is receiving end of life care at home, the most frightening time for them - and their families - is overnight. So, from April, we extended our service to provide care 24 hours a day.”
