THIS astronomical event was captured by a Worthing enthusiast last Saturday (December 10).
The partial lunar eclipse was captured at Highdown looking over Cissbury Ring in the early hours of the evening.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the Earth’s shadow while in orbit. The event on Saturday was the second to have happened in 2011.
Alex Vincent, of Shelley Road, said: “I was very lucky to have captured it because clouds were starting to gather. I looked out for it because I am a member of Worthing Astronomical Society and have a real interest in astronomy.
“I thought it looked particularly beautiful just over the edge of the horizon, and wanted to share it with others who didn’t manage to see it.”
