High street retailer issues safety notice due to electric shock risk from tablet charger

Argos has issued a safety notice after an issue was identified with the chargers of three kinds of touch-screen tablet.

There is a possibility that chargers for the tablets - manufactured by Alba - can become detached while plugged into the mains socket, resulting in a risk of electric shock.

A statement from the retailer read: “It is important for customers to stop using the plug IMMEDIATELY, and use the contact details below to obtain a replacement 3 pin attachment.

“The tablet itself can continue to be used perfectly safely using the USB cable supplied and any other suitable alternative charger.

Argos apologises for any inconvenience caused.”

The Alba brand has been owned by Home Retail Group, the parent company of Argos, since 2008.
