HMRC service in Worthing is set to close

THE HMRC enquiry centre facility in Barrington Road, Worthing, is set to close later this year and be replaced with a new support service.

The six employees working at the centre have been offered three options: to take a job in the new extra support service; to apply for a voluntary exit; or to apply for another job within HMRC or the civil service.

The decision follows a seven-month trial in the north east of England of a new service which provides advisers to resolve issues on the phone. In addition, mobile advisers will provide support at a range of locations for those who need a face-to-face appointment.

A spokesman said the facilities are closing due to a decrease in use in recent years.
