Niamh Heaysman, 13, and Alessia Murden, 14, decided to hold the event to fund international service projects they have been selected to take part in.

Lorraine Heaysman, Niamh’s mum, said: “The evening was a huge success thanks to all who attended, and the band were amazing.

“We managed to raise just short of £900. That makes a big dent in the funds needed.”

Both girls are members of 4th Goring Guides which meet in St Laurence’s Church, in Goring-by-Sea.

Niamh needs to raise £2,500 to go to Sri Lanka in July to work in an orphanage and with elephants, while Alessia needs £3,500 for a trip to Japan in 2015.

The girls have organised a ‘posh tea’ on April in The Barn, Goring Way, Goring-by-Sea, between 2-5pm on April 27.
