Homeless charity moves into Worthing Town Hall

The Worthing Churches Homeless Projects team at Worthing Town Hall, their new office base

Office space has been freed up by Worthing Borough Council, allowing other agencies to move in to form a community hub.

The charity joins the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Voluntary Action Worthing on the ground floor of the Chapel Road building.

The move has enabled Worthing Churches Homeless Projects to turn their former Grafton Road offices into ten bedsits, providing further much-needed accommodation.

Chief executive John Holmstrom said: “We are very pleased to have been able to make this move. While allowing us to expand the amount of accommodation we are able to offer, it is also a sign of the close working relationship we enjoy with Adur and Worthing council.”

Mark Nolan, executive member for resources at Worthing Borough Council, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Worthing Churches Homeless Project to the Town Hall. The move will strengthen our community hub here and benefit the charity’s wonderful work in our community.

“It’s great news that by better utilising Worthing Borough Council’s’ current assets, we have been able to provide space for local charities in the heart of the town.”

Heather Mercer, executive member for customer services, added: “We are delighted to see further growth in the community hub in the Town Hall. WCHP moving their central office into the Town Hall makes best use of our office space, generates new income for the council and frees up more accommodation to meet housing need in Worthing.

“This is a real win for the town.”
