Sam, an adult male, was taken into animal rescue charity Wadars after living rough in Durrington for five months. The unneutered stray had a badly deformed front leg, which was becoming damaged and sore, and on veterinary advice the leg was amputated.Cats usually cope well on three legs but although Sam recovered from the operation, the cat was reluctant to try to walk - until 12-week-old Daphne came into its life. The homeless kitten was taken into Wadars in a litter of four found under garden decking.Daphne has since helped the charity to rehabilitate Sam and the pair have become firm friends, with the encouragement of Daphne's siblings Fred, Velma and Shaggy.Sam is now happily moving around the cattery.Elaine Sinclair, animal rescue officer, said: "It really is lovely to see the pair of them together. They are clearly very fond of each other and if we can find a home for them both then that would be amazing but equally we would be very happy to home them separately."Sam was wary of people when we first had him in but the kittens have really helped to bring him out of his shell.”Anyone interested in offering a home should contact Wadars on 01903 247111.
