Staff, people living at Southdown’s Brook Court and their families marked the occasion with an Oscar-themed party to share their memories of the services over the past decade.

Hand-made decorations, a specially designed photo-booth, tombola, quiz, sumptuous food and a dream-tree in which people shared their hopes and dreams for the next ten years all made it an afternoon to remember.

Brook Court provides tailored 24-hour care and support to enable people living at the service to live as independently as they can.

Alison Bacon, manager at Brook Court, said: “It was an amazing day and everybody really enjoyed themselves.

“The event was organised and put together by people living at Brook Court, in particular Jo, who has lived at the service since it opened. Her creativity and energy really made the event extra special.

“Staff at the service have been amazing too; they all got involved to help our clients have the day that they wanted.”

Jo, who lives at Brook Court, added: “I have been so excited; I have loved doing everything for it. Lots of staff helped me get my ideas out my head. It was nice having people I know at the party, old and new.”

Southdown is a not for profit organisation that provides care and support for more than 200 people with learning disabilities in Sussex.
