FIRE crews from across the area were called to a blaze at a property in Shoreham last night.

The incident, at Upper Shoreham Road, happened at around 9pm and involved four appliances from Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham and Hove to attend the scene.

Officers used three jet water pumps to tackle the fire at the detached home, which was brought under control within five minutes of officers arriving at 9.15pm.

It has started in the rear bedroom (which was completely destroyed in the fire), with the remainder of the property suffering severe damage from smoke.

Though initial investigations did not reveal the source of the incident, it is not being treated as suspicious.
