As of April 1, for a three-month trial period, Worthing Borough Council will reduce hourly parking rates for shoppers in its multi-storey car parks, from £1.70 an hour to £1 an hour, in an attempt to attract more people to the town.

However, some businesses and groups such as nurses will see their monthly parking fees significantly increase in an attempt to make fees ‘fair and transparent’.

Cobb PR, based in Brighton and Eastbourne, saw off competition from nine Worthing marketing businesses to secure the contract, which runs until the end of June.

Paul Yallop, leader of Worthing Borough Council, said: “As well as presenting the best campaign Cobb PR was chosen on the basis of its strong links to the regional media.”
