‘Inspirational’ apprentice stories told on awards evening
The annual awards evening was dubbed the ‘best ever’ in nearly 10 years of the event’s history by apprenticeships manager Brenda Cook, having seen a range of young people and employers receive awards.
She said: “The evening was a chance for the apprenticeship team to present apprentices, who had achieved exceptionally well in their respective frameworks, with an award highlighting their achievement.

In addition to the awards to the apprentices, two employer awards were presented.
GlaxoSmithKline won large business employer of the year for its ongoing support of engineering training, while James Stoner, of Sompting-based JSPC Computer Services scooped the equivalent award for smaller businesses.
Mrs Cook said: “Whether it be attending jobs fairs on Saturdays or attending school assemblies at the invitation of the college. GlaxoSmithKline have demonstrated that they have a clear mission to deliver a message about engineering training and apprenticeships to the wider community and beyond.
