International Women’s Day demo in Shoreham

A BUSINESSWOMAN is calling for people to join her in a demonstration to show their support for abused women.

Steyning resident Ariana Gee, who runs Medics on the Move in Shoreham, is hoping 100 women, children and men will join her on Tuesday, March 8, for a mass gathering on Shoreham’s Norfolk Bridge to mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day.

She said: “We will be holding up banners and calling for an end to violence against women in war-torn countries across the world, including Afghanistan, one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a woman.”

The event will start at 6pm at the Ropetackle Arts Centre, with a short film, before participants walk to the bridge, light candles and display peace banners.
