It's official. A by-pass is just pie in the sky

WORTHING'S long-awaited bypass is one of the top 10 most delayed road schemes in the country.

The town came sixth on a list compiled by the Road Users' Alliance (RUA), which includes members from the British Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses, after waiting 39 years for a solution to the ongoing congestion on the A27.

The hold up has largely been due to the fact that government funding has not been made available for the project.

A tunnel has been suggested as another viable solution to traffic problems, but at a cost of considerably more than the 125 million the RUA estimates for the bypass.
