Judy Rogers sworn in as Hastings mayor

Councillor Judy Rogers takes over fellow councillor, Bruce Dowling, who was mayor for two years.
The mayor making ceremony took place at St Mary-in-the-Castle.

Hide AdCllr Rogers said: “I would like to thank all those who re-elected me for a further term on the council, as well as Team Rogers, who are always there to encourage and push me along.
“I would like to pay tribute to Bruce as outgoing mayor. We have formed such a bond and friendship and I know this will last for years. He has been a wonderful mayor and fantastic ambassador for Hastings.
“This year is a significant one for the town, with the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, and there is already a lot planned to mark the anniversary.
“This will show Hastings for the wonderful place it is. We are proud of our history.”

Hide AdCllr Dowling thanked everyone for supporting him as mayor over his two-year term.
The new deputy mayor is Nigel Sinden.
