Bradley and Connor Baker, of Highdown Drive, Littlehampton, received a letter this week telling them they were in the top three per cent of fundraisers on JustGiving in January.

They had managed to collect £1,254.99 in donations plus £218.75 in Gift Aid.

Their efforts are continuing for St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing, where their mother, Jeanette Baker, 45, is being cared for. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March last year.

The boys latest venture is a sponsored swimming challenge. Bradley, ten, and Connor, eight, will swim as many lengths as they can at Inspire Littlehampton between now and Easter.

Doreen Harbour, Jeanette’s mother, said she was keen to encourage the boys, who now hoped to be in the top one per cent of fundraisers on JustGiving for February.

“St Barnabas House has been a very supportive and positive place for the boys to visit their mum,” she added.

“It doesn’t feel like an oppressive and sad nursing home. The staff have really gone the extra mile to make the quality of Jeanette’s life as fantastic as possible. The care she receives is wonderful.

“We are so grateful to the team who pulled together to enable Jeanette to get home for Christmas, which was what she and her family wanted so much.”

The brothers have also done a sponsored silence and reading challenges.
