Kevin is a real marathon man for next year

A MIDDLETON man is about to run a marathon a month for charity for a year.

Kevin Byrne will start his mission to raise money outside Sainsbury’s in Farlington, Portsmouth, on July 26.

He will move round the company’s stores in the region in the coming 12 months.

His marathon endeavour is being run with Wave 105FM’s Cash for Kids campaign.

The money raised will go to Redwood Park School in Portsmouth. It needs new outdoor changing rooms for its pupils with learning difficulties. The cost of £120,000 is above the £48,000 the school has got together.

Kevin, 49, the managing director of Checkatrade.com, will set up a second treadmill alongside his to encourage members of the website to join the challenge.

He said: “We have a great culture of charitable giving here in the UK but I feel that causes for mentally disabled children are often passed over.

“New changing rooms at the school will allow pupils to prepare for spots comfortably and safely.”
