CREATIVE kids in Sompting got into the Hallowe’en spirit last week and made the most gruesome pumpkins as part of a creepy competition.
The Tuesday club, run by Sompting Big Local (SBL), is called Krafty Kids and was attended by ten local children aged between six and 13.
Jacqui Matten, of SBL, helped the children make their spooky designs a reality.
She said: “We all drew the picture of our desired face on the pumpkins and then for safety reasons I cut the shapes with the children pushing out and tweaking their designs.
“Two children turned up in fancy dress, a friendly witch and a pumpkin.”
Ollie Newell, dressed as the pumpkin, won the fancy dress competition.
“The parents were smiling with pride over their children all getting along and sharing the equipment for scrapping the pumpkins,” she said.
For her originality, Jessica Gardner-Standbridge’s pumpkin was the winner of the carving competition and will receive a certificate for her creation.
Jacqui also said that the children made very little mess.
