Lancing academy head defends stance on school uniforms

A HEADMASTER involved in a row over pupils’ appearance has defended the school’s position and says teachers will be subject to the same rules as students.

Peter Midwinter, headmaster at the Sir Robert Woodard Academy in Upper Boundstone Lane, Lancing, has taken a firm stance on pupils appearance this term and has introduced a staff dress code.

Mr Midwinter said: “When you try to drive up standards, you need to raise the bar.

“Nobody is immune from that, staff included. Some staff have been asked to improve their appearance.”
