There were stalls, rides, performances and competitions, which proved popular with young and old.

The annual Lancing Parish Council event was run in association with Lancing and Sompting Lions Club this year.

Organiser Ann Bridges, vice-chairman of the parish council, said: “It was a free family day, to give something back to the community on behalf of the parish council and the Lions.

“It went well. The wind was very strong so one or two of the stalls collapsed and there were not quite as many stalls as we had hoped for, but it was a good day.”

The fun dog show saw a variety of dogs judged in categories like how well they behaved and how cute they were.

“There were dogs of various sizes and none of them were that old. It was just for fun,” added Mrs Bridges.

Other special guests included Mike Mendoza from Latest TV and East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton, who judged the bonny baby show.

Other entertainment included a children’s fancy dress competition, Punch and Judy, and hook a duck.

In the marquee, several Shoreham Allstars bands played and Mrs Bridges said they proved very popular, as they had been last year.
