Lancing father's pride as daughter completes Navy training

A FATHER from Lancing has spoken of his pride at seeing his daughter's passing out parade for the Navy with his Royal Marine son at his side.

Paul Blanchard, of The Moorings, Lancing, recently travelled to Cornwall to watch his daughter, Angelique, finish her initial training.

His son, David, who is serving with the Royal Marines in Afghanistan, was able to watch his sister's passing out parade at HMS Raleigh, Torpoint, Cornwall, because he was on two weeks' leave.

"We felt very proud," said Mr Blanchard.

"Her training was challenging and hard work but enjoyable.

"We were all very happy as a family to be at the passing out parade."

Angelique, who is a former Boundstone Community College pupil, is now based at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, training as a warfare specialist.
