Graham Hanley died from cancer at the end of April, aged 55.

The Worthing resident had lived in the area for 20 years and his son Dean, 35, will complete 72 holes of golf tomorrow (June 21) in his memory.

“My dad was a great man and would be totally uncomfortable with us saying wonderful things about him, so much so I can still see the look on his face,” said Dean. “He was a great man that didn’t know his own greatness.”

“He was perfect,” said Graham’s daughter-in-law, Kellie, 32, of Grover Avenue, Lancing.

“He was fun-loving and he did everything for everyone else and never for himself.”

Dean has got a team of four together to complete the longest-day golf challenge – four rounds in one day. So far, they have raised nearly £2,500.

“My dad was my hero and was taken far too soon and all the support we have had so far in raising over £2,500 was testament to him,” said Dean.

During the challenge at the Singing Hills course, in Pyecombe, they will walk around 25 miles and swing for the ball at least 350 times each.
