A CHILDREN’S nursery is celebrating after scooping a £10,000 grant – to buy iPads for toddlers.
Staff at St James Nursery said they are “over the moon” after they were told they would be receiving the large cash boost from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.
The North Lancing nursery, which meets in the newly renovated St James the Less Church hall, in Mill Road, plans to spend the money on buying iPads for the youngsters to help improve their hand/eye co-ordination with games such as Angry Birds.
Rebecca Holden, from the nursery, was the one who filled in the grant application form.
She said: “It is awesome. I never expected to even be chosen.
“We thought we could put as much as possible and they would pick a few things. We never thought we would get everything.
“They came back and said we had been awarded this grant and we were absolutely over the moon.”
It is hoped the high-tech equipment will help improve the standard of education and play by providing a new method of learning. However, the nursery is keen to emphasise traditional play will still be encouraged.
