After a visit to Wilmshurst Pharmacy in Crabtree Lane, Lancing, run by Shabbir Jefferelly, customer Clare Talor from Sompting wrote a comment on Facebook about the ‘special’ service she had received. Within a few hours, hundreds of comments had appeared in praise of the service from Mr Jefferelly and his staff.

The 67-year-old, who lives with his wife, said he had ‘no words’ to express how it felt to read the comments, adding: “I was speechless, I never expected it.”

The father of three and grandfather of two said he believed it was down to his ‘tradition’ of ‘looking after customers’ and ‘always putting customers first’.

He was presented with a thank you card hand-made by Clare’s daughter, Neve, which he said was ‘so sweet’.

Councillor Carol Albury said: “Small independent chemists are the salt of the earth for our communities and Mr Jefferelly and his team are a classic example of this.

“We are so lucky to have this dedicated man as our local pharmacist.

“It is vitally important that we support our local chemists, as we do not want to see them disappear.”
