Lancing photo exhibition

SIGHTS of beauty and interest from the area have been on display at a photographic exhibition in Lancing.

Held in Lancing Library, in Penstone Park, from Saturday, the exhibition features panoramic photographs of Shoreham, images of Lancing kitesurfers, and pictures of nature, including spider webs and poppies.

The photos were taken by Mike Jeffery, who has been taking photographs since he was 10 after a relative taught him the pastime.

The retired printworker, from Freshbrook Road, Lancing, said he had recently been spending more time on his hobby.

“My uncle was very keen and taught me to do black and white and it’s gone from there,” he said.

Many of Mike’s photos are exhibited on canvas, a technique he started using after a friend suggested he used it on a panoramic shot of Shoreham Harbour.

A former chairman of Southwick Camera Club, Mike also exhibited his photos at Pond Road library in Shoreham, last month.

Of his lifelong interest, he added: “It’s something to get out for and record images of various events. I was chairman of Southwick Camera Club so I’ve a lot of friends who are photographers.”

The exhibition, which is being held until Saturday, also includes postcards of Lancing from the past.
