AN AMATEUR photographer picked up his first competition win with this snap of an urban fox in the snow.

Paul Robards of Griffiths Avenue, North Lancing, said he was delighted to have won first prize in the Sussex Wildlife Trust competition, Rain or Shine.

Paul, 56, spotted the fox in his neighbour’s garden earlier this year.

He said: “I think it was the first time this particular fox had seen snow. He looked a bit bewildered.”

Paul has been photographing wildlife since his teenage years, and once belonged to Southwick Camera Club.

Photographers were asked to submit a picture of wildlife using the theme of Britain’s ever-changing weather as their inspiration.

Paul’s photo will appear as the December image on the Sussex Wildlife Trust 2014 calendar.

Paul received a prize of £150 which he will donate to various animal rescue charities.
