Preliminary designs for the new skatepark

An official opening event is planned for the Easter holidays, the parish council heard at a meeting on Wednesday (November, 9).

A few technical issues from the submitted design have been ironed out and planning conditions are expected to be satisfied before the end of the year, the council heard.

James Butcher, a Churchill ward councillor, said: “I want to express my gratitude that this project has kept going.

“To get a starting date is so exciting. I can’t wait for it.”

Building a skatepark in Lancing was first proposed in May 2015.

Construction specialists Wheelscape have been chosen to carry out the work, which is funded by Adur and Worthing councils.
