Lancing woman in hospital after shed fire

Firefighters tackled a garden shed that was on fire in Belvedere Avenue around 2.40pm this afternoon.

Crews were called to a house where they found the shed in flames, which were put out using breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a hydrant.

A woman in her 60s was suffering from mild smoke inhalation so was given oxygen therapy, before an ambulance took her to hospital.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said the fire was accidental, though the cause is currently unknown.

The shed was destroyed, and crews damped down the area before leaving around 4pm.
