Last chance for extra funding for Arun community groups

ARUN community groups that enhance their neighbourhoods are being urged to beat the December deadline to see if they qualify for a cash boost.

The call comes from the West Sussex County Council members of the joint downland area committee (JDAC) who have more than £8,000 worth of community initiative funding (CIF) left to allocate.

However, all applications must be made before Thursday, December 8, if they are to be considered.

Nigel Peters, of the county council, said: “Our area is rich with a wide variety of organisations that make a valuable contribution all round the year.

“CIF enables us to actively support their initiatives and projects in a positive and practical way.”

Walberton Parish Council is the latest organisation to have benefited from the funding, receiving £500 to clear rubbish from a pond.

To apply for a CIF grant, go to the county local committee pages on the West Sussex County Council website.

JDAC covers all the parishes around Arundel, in the Arun District, including Climping, Angmering, Rustington, Littlehampton, East Preston and Yapton.
