Teens at the Worthing independent school have been celebrating achieving some of Sion’s best results in recent years.

Almost three quarters of those who sat exams at Sion (71.4 per cent) achieved A* to B marks, with plenty of solid individual performances from students.

The school also maintained its impressive 100 per cent pass rate for all those sitting exams, with almost a quarter achieving three As or better.

Head teacher Michael Scullion is retiring at the end of the month, after 15 years at Sion and said he is going out on a high.

“This school has been absolutely wonderfully. It’s got a great spirit. The teachers and staff work very hard together to make the spirit we have here.

“The results have got better and better. I’m going out on a high. The children have done well and I’m very pleased and happy.”

Christian Taylor, 18, of Fitzalan Road, Littlehampton, got two A* in physics and maths and an A in chemistry.

He said: “I didn’t expect to do that well really. It’s a big relief. No matter how bright you are you have to put the work in.”

Other high-achievers includes Sion’s head girl, Eleanor Pettitt, who clinched two A* and an A* and Tristan Ong, 18, who scored top marks – four A* in chemistry, physics, maths and further maths.

Tristian will be heading off to University College London to study maths.
