A-LEVELS: Worthing’s Our Lady of Sion School enjoys 100 per cent pass rate

STUDENTS celebrated excellent results at Our Lady of Sion School in Worthing today (Thursday, August 19), with half of the year group gaining A* and A grades.

100 per cent of exams sat at the faith school in Gratwicke Road were passed, with 78.7 per cent of exam candidates achieving grades A* to B, and 92.6 per cent achieving A* to C grades.

And A* grades accounted for 18.5 per cent of all results.

Head teacher Michael Scullion said he was “incredibly impressed” with the results.

“It’s just fantastic and goes to show how hard our students work,” he said.

“As always, I really believe it is the atmosphere and happy ethos here that creates the right environment for students to work and achieve in.”

Of the top performing students, Harry Cloke was left speechless on opening his envelope of results to find he had gained 3 A* grades.

The 18 year old, of Harvey Road, Goring, said: “I am overwhelmed. I can’t believe I’ve done so well.”

Harry said his time at the school were “the best years of his life”. He will study history at Warwick University in September.

Last year’s head boy, Joe Cross, gained three A grades.

He collected his results with his emotional mum Pippa who said she “couldn’t be prouder” of her son.

Joe, of Sunny Close, Worthing, said: “I can’t put into words how great this school has been – it’s enabled me to achieve what I have.”

The 18 year old plans to take a gap year, travelling Australia, before studying languages or business.
