Lighting Up Town

THOUSANDS of tiny, white lights have transformed Arundel into a winter wonderland again this Christmas.

The lights are on around 90 Christmas trees fixed above shops and businesses in the town centre, adding a seasonal magic to Arundel s old streets as darkness falls.

As well as almost 200 lights, each of the trees carries a star made by children at the town s two primary schools, and the whole scheme was arranged by Geoff Squire, vice-president of Arundel Chamber of Commerce.

He said: "One of the nice things is that, as well as the involvement of the businesses, the community has entered into the spirit.

"Around a third of the trees are being powered by electricity from private flats above shops because no other supply was available, and it s really good of these people to have the transformer in their home and provide the electricity."
