Little Common 'Tesco' row rumbles on

THE debate over whether 10 apartments and a retail unit should be built on a prime spot at Little Common rumbles on.

When the matter returned to Rother planners, the committee were split.

Half wanted to agree the proposal because there was no legitimate reason not to.

The other half wanted the matter to go to full council for a decision.

More than 500 people have petitioned against the scheme, fearing any Tesco involvement would be detrimental to local shops in the Cooden Sea Road area.

The site in question is currently occupied by Ken Hood car sales.

After heated discussion, it was agreed that full council should have the final say.
